Two ways to tell Bogey "I know about this one." Quiet the devices that come and go, and clear the risk flag on gear you've already vetted.

New

• Mute a device's alerts. Silence background join notifications for a device that's always coming and going, like a phone or a laptop, without hiding it. It stays on the radar with a small muted badge, and still shows up in the activity feed.
• Acknowledge a device's risk. When a device is flagged At risk for a real reason (an exposed port like SMB, or a decoy MAC) and you know it's expected, acknowledge it. Bogey stops flagging it and drops it from the needs-attention count, while still listing exactly what it saw. Reversible any time.

Better device names. Bogey now recognizes more of your devices by their real names instead of falling back to a vendor or a bare IP.

New

• Sharper device naming. Bogey now asks each device directly, over mDNS, for its own name, the same technique that turns a bare address into "Wills-iPhone" or "office-printer." It names devices that announce a name but don't advertise a browsable service, which the previous approach missed.

A complete redesign of Bogey's home screen. Calmer, clearer, and easier to read at a glance, with everything you already relied on still here.

New

• Redesigned dashboard. A cleaner radar with your devices grouped into zones (Infrastructure, Personal, Smart home) and color-coded by zone, so the shape of your network reads instantly.
• Security posture at a glance. A network health score and an honest At risk / Review / Trusted breakdown, flagging real signals: dangerous open ports (Telnet, RDP, SMB), decoy MAC addresses, and devices Bogey can't identify.
• Three ways to look. Switch between the Radar, a dense sortable/searchable List, and an Activity feed of joins and departures, all from one toolbar toggle.
• Move devices between zones. Reassign any device to a different zone, remembered across scans.

Kept

• Everything from before: rename devices, set a device's type, drag nodes around the radar, Common and Deep port scans, background monitoring, and the network safety gate all carry over.

Fixed a Deep Scan bug: a full 65,535-port scan could report fewer open ports than the quick common-port scan, because it ran too aggressively and the host dropped connections. Deep Scan is now gentler and only ever adds to what's already known, so ports no longer disappear.

Fixed

• Scanning could start before you'd confirmed you own the network. The main window asked for confirmation, but the menu bar's "Scan now" and a background Watch session left on from a previous launch didn't wait for it. Every scan now refuses to run until you've explicitly approved the network you're on. If you use Bogey away from home, please update.
• New-device notifications never appeared. They're working now, whether Bogey is in the foreground or watching quietly in the menu bar.
• The menu bar's recent activity list now scrolls, instead of only showing a handful of entries.
• Opening Bogey from the menu bar no longer piles up duplicate windows.

New

• A new icon. The antenna you already see inside the app, everywhere else too.
• Networks you approve are remembered, matched by your router itself rather than just its address range, so Watch can pick back up after a restart without asking again. Join a network you haven't approved and Bogey still stops and asks. "Forget approved networks" in Settings clears them.

Honest port scanning. "Deep Scan" now checks all 65,535 ports on a device instead of a slightly-longer fixed list. A new "Common Port Scan" button re-checks just the high-signal ports on demand and stays free.

Clicking Download on an available update now actually downloads the DMG straight to your Downloads folder and reveals it in Finder, instead of just opening a browser tab.

Bogey doesn't auto-update, but now you can check on demand: a "Check for Updates" button in Settings tells you if a newer version is out, with a one-click link to grab it.

Fixed a crash when renaming your network from the header pencil. The startup network-check screen now shows a network name you've already set, and no longer truncates long values.

Three small fixes: the device type menu no longer shows a duplicate arrow, the "Set by you" badge no longer stretches into a tall sliver next to a long device name, and dragging devices around the radar now survives a rescan instead of getting flung off-screen when new devices shift the auto-layout.

Undo device customizations. A "Reset to default" control now appears on any device you've renamed or retyped, right in its dossier. Settings also got a separate "Reset device customizations" option to clear every custom name and type override at once, distinct from resetting the monitoring baseline.

Name your network. Give the network you're on a friendly name like "Home" or "Office," and Bogey will remember it and show it again the next time you reconnect, even across restarts.

Another small fix: renaming a device didn't always take your typing. Clicking the rename pencil now focuses the field immediately, so you can just start typing.

A small fix: some secondary text in Settings was too dark to read comfortably. Brightened it.

A safety and control pass: Bogey now protects you from accidentally mapping the wrong network, and gives you more say over how your map looks.

New

• Network-change protection. If your Mac switches networks (new Wi-Fi, VPN, ethernet), Bogey immediately stops scanning and pauses background monitoring until you confirm you're authorized on the new network.
• Set a device's type manually. Override Bogey's guess right from the dossier, or reset it back to auto-detect any time.
• Rearrange the radar. Drag any device to a spot you like; right-click a node to reset it back to its default position.

Improved

• Fixed low-contrast confidence dots that were hard to see on the dark background.
• Cleaned up Settings and paywall copy to accurately reflect what's built today versus planned.

A feature pass focused on making the map more yours: name your devices, dig deeper on demand, and tune how Bogey watches your network.

New

• Rename devices. Give any device a friendly name right from its dossier. Your names persist and show up on the radar and in the list.
• Deep port scan (Pro). Run an on-demand scan of a much wider port range on any single device, beyond the ports Bogey checks automatically during a sweep.
• Settings (Pro). Configure the background monitoring interval, review scan options, reset your device baseline, and check license status, all from a new Settings sheet.

• Requires macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later, on Apple Silicon or Intel.
• Notarized and signed with a Developer ID. Opens cleanly with no security warnings.
• On first launch, allow the macOS Local Network prompt so Bogey can see device names and scan ports.
